Instructions

This GLOW Quiz is the midterm exam. It covers all units up to and including SSDs.

This is an open-book exam. However, that does not mean that all sources of information are permitted. When taking the exam, you may consult:

When taking the exam, you may not consult:

You may also author, compile, and run new (original) code if you write such code using only allowed the sources listed above.

Logistics

You have 24 contiguous hours to complete the exam once you begin.

For any question (or question part), you may unambiguously write the answer:

“I do not know”

instead of attempting an answer. If you do, you will receive 25% of the points allocated to that part of the question.

If you run into any technical difficulties while taking the exam, please do not stress; you will not be penalized. Instead, please send me an email/slack message describing the issues that you ran into so that I can try to fix them for you (and for others), and so that we can figure out how to counteract any ways that you were negatively affected. Just continue to take the exam and do your best; the honor code is in effect, but please add any time that you lost due to technical issues back to your total.

Although it is hard to show your work in a text box, only answers that appear in the exam’s text boxes can be viewed.

At some point after submitting, sample answers will be made available so that you can compare your answers against my sample answers/explanations. I will also give feedback to your answers that represents my assessment of your work, but remember that this course is “ungraded”. If you learn from the exam/feedback and feel that you better understand the material as a result, we can discuss the logistics of making additional exam attempts available to you if you would like to re-assess your own knowledge.

Good luck!
